You’ve got to earn money if you wan to spend money in the Premier League.
Unless you’re Man City. Or Man United
But for the rest of us, there’s a need to bring in cash, and on top of players sales, the ever increasing revenue from advertising in an important factor.
The good news for Chelsea fans is that the club’s directors are pretty good at milking that particular cow, as they have proved with their latest coup.
The Times reports that the club have secured a £50m deal with Hyundai to be the new shirt sleeve sponsor for 5 years, a new record that doubles Man City’s shoulder sponsor money – although their deal is up for renewal this summer.
The truth is, it’s a drop in the ocean in footballing terms, but everything that helps the bottom line and frees up cash to sign players can only be a good thing.
