Cristiano Ronaldo will go down in history as one of the greatest footballers to have ever played the game, and the magical Ronaldo who made his name in the Premier League with Manchester United before moving to Real Madrid hasn’t still forgotten his games in England.
Ronaldo was a guest this week on Spanish talk show El Chiringuito TV, and sat down with presenters to answer a series of quick-fire questions.
Ronaldo answered several questions, before being momentarily stumped when asked: ‘Who is the toughest defender you have played against?’
The 32-year-old pondered over the question before confidently answering: ‘Ashley Cole.’
Cole controversially signed for Chelsea in 2006 from London rivals Arsenal, and was a fierce rival against Ronaldo before the Portuguese star departed for Spain.
Ronaldo also faced Cole for Portugal against the Three Lions at Euro 2004 and the 2006 World Cup in Germany.
Cole, now aged 37, is winding down his career plying his trade in the MLS for LA Galaxy.
Cole was regarded as the best full-back at his peak and had won 107 caps for his country, making him England’s most capped full-back.
