Chelsea are eyeing a £65m bid for Italian giants Napoli centre-back Kalidou Koulibaly, according to reports in Italian media.
The Senegalese central defender netted a towering, headed winner versus Serie A rivals Juventus on Sunday to blow the Serie A title hunt wide open.
Koulibaly has long been connected with a move to the Premier League, with Liverpool, Manchester United and Arsenal all scouting Kalidou in the past.
But as reported Italian daily newspaper Il Mattino, Chelsea have stolen a march on their Premier League rivals by preparing the massive £65m offer.
The Premier League giants will be looking to reinforce their defence upcoming season, regardless of whether Italian manager Antonio Conte stays on as a coach or not.
The west London club has conceded 34 goals in their 34 Premier League matches, more than all the other top-five sides except Liverpool.
Napoli Owner Aurelio de Laurentiis is prepared for a lot of offers for his star centre-back this summer, but with Chelsea ready to meet the Kalidou Koulibaly’s release (buy-out) clause, Partenopei may be forced to sell, though for a big profit.
