Rumour has it that superstars Lionel Messi and Andres Iniesta have lost faith in FC Barcelona manager Ernesto Valverde, but it has now been claimed what some of the team's senior figures really think of the boss, especially following their shock UEFA Champions League exit.
The manager rotated his side on Tuesday against Celta, leaving the likes of Lionel Messi, Samuel Umtiti and Luis Suarez on the bench, while Andres Iniesta and Sergio Busquets sat the clash out completely.
It was an unconvincing display from the Catalans as they failed to take most of their chances, while Marc-Andre ter Stegen was called into action more than he perhaps would have liked.
Recent reports have suggested the leaders in the team are not happy with Valverde, but according to Sport Witness, they feel a lot differently than is being portrayed.
Following the club's surprising exit from the UEFA Champions League, the likes of Messi, Iniesta and Busquets are believed to feel sympathetic toward their manager.
It has been claimed that the club’s senior players reportedly feel that Valverde does not have great back-up options, and that the second-string players are not pulling their weight when called into action.
The majority of the Blaugrana’s first team stars have had to feature in almost every game this season, which has perhaps led to those players suffering from fatigue in recent weeks.
Barca's draw on Tuesday night means they are 12 points clear of second-placed Atletico Madrid, who have a game in hand.
Do you feel the Catalan club's back-up players are perhaps just not good enough? Let us know in the comments section below.
